Good Morning, my name is Garrison Roberts. My wife and I just bought our first home 5 months ago…moving’ up and finally realizing the American Dream. So shortly thereafter we found that it could be very costly during the impending winter to pay the higher propane costs that heating a 1800 sq ft home is…we needed a better solution. So we looked around and found some friends using 2 CZ Infrared 1500P heaters to supplement their home heat. It seemed to do an excellent job in the main areas of their home. So I took the leap of faith and invested in 3 units...they do not disappoint whatsoever. We run our thermostat at a constant 55 F and supplement up to 75 degrees F in our living room, one in our kitchen/dining area, and one in our finished basement that is converted into an office/study. The units perform perfectly and we set them to delay start about 45 minutes prior to coming home for an even, comfortable heat. I run our 3 units for about 12 hours per day for the cost of $1.58 per day or less than $50.00 per month in electrical cost per unit. It has saved us hundreds in potential propane costs this heating season already. I am so glad that I took the leap of faith and decided to choose Infrared heat to keep my new home comfy and warm. Thank you, CZ Infrared.

We just got through another "Comfort Zone Winter--used the larger unit for the second year without any problem. That great heater makes our so-called 3-season sun room a 4-season room--which is a good thing because we love that room and all the plants in it. I will buy another one next winter and keep my thermostat in the living room down a notch. Love those heaters!

Duhhhh! Any 1500 watt appliance will use 1500 watts whether coffee pot or heater. Using a 1500 watt heater 24 hours is 36 kw/hrs. Multiply that by 30 days is 1080 kw/hrs. The national 'average' is $0.10 per kw hour charage which would by a max of $108.00. My CZ Infrared heater still saved me $250 to $350 a month on my *overall* fuel bill. And I have never had any problem of any kind what so ever with the unit.

I can relate to liking this product. I bought a CZ 1500 Wood Cherry model for $600.00 a month ago for my living room and it does a fantastic job of keeping my entire family warm during family movie night and just during our unwind time in the evening. However, I did need another model for my office and decided to shop around for a refurbished model. It took me awhile but I finally found another Wood Cherry model for the low price of $410.00 by buying direct from the manufacturer, EarthWise, at their site: http://www.czinfraredheaters.com It's turned out to be a great value for a unit that will be apart of my office for years to come.

Comfort Zone heater SUCKS. I bought one of these heaters and am thoroughly disappointed. It will not turn on until it is really cold, like around 40-45 degrees or so. As a result i ended up using my old heater instead.
When it does turn on (which has been about five times this winter) it won't turn off automatically so the room just got hotter and hotter until i turned it off. I can't program it to turn on/off at certain times because that part doesn't work.
I called customer service (which is lousy-you can't get them half the time after waiting a long time) and they told me to do this and that which i did, but nothing worked. I bought it in the summer when it became available so by the time i tried using it in the winter the money back guarantee was over.
So i'm stuck with a $400 piece of garbage.

I purchased the comfort zone 1500 about 1 month ago (Jan 20). It was packaged very well. It worked right out of the box and is still working after running 24/7 since I bought it. I researched all of the space heaters out there before I bought this unit. I was skeptical as to the heat output at first. My neighbor had 2 units so I visited him, he is very happy with the results. So I bought the comfort zone unit. I use it in the basement rec room where it is always chilly. It does warm up the room quite nicely. I know the unit uses more electricity than stated and I will get a meter someday to find this out. When they say you need a 15 amp circuit to plug this into, you know it will draw some current. But as far as durability and heat output- so far so good.

My power bill did go up 40 $ but i cut my gas use in half and saved 100$ the first month i had it. I had a sun heat that only went 1 winter and by the end of winter it was way to loud. I thought the fan was going to blow up.

My Comfort zone heater did put off a smell for the first few minutes but went away and have not smelled anything since.

Replacing a Solar Comfort light bulb easy? First of all you get the new unit and have to unscrew the interior unit from the cabinet. That is of course, if the cabinet is not already broken upon receipt. Then the screws are so cheap they break off. So you spent 15-20 minutes getting the thing apart to put in the light bulbs. (They are not shipped installed in the unit). Put in the bulbs, find new screws to put the Solar Comfort back together. Then plug in it. Maybe it works - maybe it doesn't. Sometimes the thermostats are screwed down so tightly that you have to take it apart again to loosen the screws (this advice from Sun Cloud tech support). Then if it doesn't work - YOU have to pay to return it. There is simply no comparison between the Solar Comfort/Sun Cloud and the ComfortZone Infrared Therapeutic Heater. The ComfortZone arrives very securely packaging in THICK styrofoam and a HEAVY duty box intended for shipping. You unwrap the unit, plug it in - AND IT WORKS! Replacing the infrared tubes (yes folks, no suntan bulbs in the ComfortZone) takes about 5 minutes even for non mechanically inclined person. Plus, the tubes last 20,000 hrs compared to Sun Cloud/Solar Comfort's 7,000 hours. PLUS the ComfortZone tubes are covered under warranty for THREE YEARS! Even if you do need to replace a tube, they are cheaper than a Solar Comfort.

I have both units and there is no comparison in quality. When you compare the wood cabinet on each brand it is VERY apparent that the ComfortZone unit is QUALITY BUILT. It is not made from cheap plywood. The best comparison, apples to apples, would be to say that when comparing the quality of the cabinets, the Solar Comfort unit looks like an orange crate and the ComfortZone looks like a piece of fine furniture.

I don't believe Solar Comfort can claim their thermostat is accurate to within 1-2 degrees. In real use, my Solar Comfort is generally 5-10 degrees off.

Don't be fooled by reviews from anyone whose income comes from selling Solar Comfort units.

I am a dealer/service center for Solar Comfort and have the ComfortZone for comparison. I would not put my company name on the line for any other than Solar Comfort. Why?

First off I don't trust plastic and heaters. In fact, I have an image of one of the infrared heaters melted. I will not disclose the name.

I also do not believe that any of these heaters using digital displays and remotes are going to last longterm. Have you ever had a digital component or remote fail? The simpler the better for longevity.

See I used to work for a chip broker, and what they do is wait for the manufacturer of chips to stop production and then they buy them up. Then they put manufacturers at their mercy. Manufacturers using the former digital components are forced to move onto a new model. Where does this leave you when the warranty is up and the unit changed.

When comparing the ComfortZone Infrared Heater to Solar Comfort it was almost not even a fair comparison. Hands down the Solar Comfort is a much higher quality unit that will certainly be around for you for a long time of heating.

The filter. It was so flimsy on the Comfort Zone. It was so small in comparison as well. I could not believe that when you look through it towards light it was like looking right through it. Not so on the massive Solar Comfort filter.

Then there is the bulbs. Although the main bulb seems to be a slight improvement over ComfortZone's real competitors, Edenpure, SunHeat and SunTwin. I am not convinced that there heat area contains any improvement at all. In fact I would place my bet on the others in this case. Yes there were a few pieces of thin copper but definately not anything to boast about, IN MY OPINION.

Try changing the bulbs that are suppose to be so easy on the ComfortZone. I am very mechanically inclined as I am a service center and I had a hassle of a time. Trying to line the bulbs back in place always left me wondering if it was in right. In fact, how do you even know which is out. No peep holes or any other indicators.

The Solar Comfort is a dream for anyone to work on. I can change lamps in a matter of seriously 2 minutes. 8 screws and as simple as turning lamps.

Oh and don't let ANYONE tell you that Solar Comfort uses old outdated technology. Theirs works and it is proven. They tried the quartz and moved right back.

The only thing I could see being a plus for someone needing to move one by picking it up a lot would be that it is lighter. That is it!

The Solar Comfort is simpler. It is higher quality, blends in like a piece of furniture and is the original.

I did an apples to apples heat test on both the Solar Comfort and the Comfort Zone and the Solar Comfort put out up to 15 degrees more heat and was cool to the touch around the case.

Want to see more information and comparisons go here: http://www.citysurfin.com

    I hope this helps.

We got Kadin moved to our local vets this morning He is doing much better, I was running on empty as I could not sleep & I had to get up at 5 to get out of the house by 6 & get him by 7:30 ...

He will be at our vets for about 2 to 3 days & put on a special diet hopefully this will not happen again.

The vet kept bragging on him saying he was the best tempered cat he has seen & did well & was very lovey with everyone.

It was hard keeping him calm for the 1 hr car trip to our vet he has a half block in his arm & the cath. still draining pee. The hospital has a dog that lives there Kadin wasn't to fond of him. The dog really wanted to befriend Kadin but he would just hide in his box & stick his head into his blanket. LOL Well I'm off to get us something to eat again & nap I think I can rest better now that he is closer to home & doing much better.

I just got off the phone with the vet He said Kadin is resting fine they have him on pain meds & still have the cath in him to help flush everything it was crystals in his badder not kidney stones. I also asked him about a raw or fresh meat diet rather than the Vet prescription food. He said most vet that are good ones will recommend this (I told him I'd been Googling all night LOL)  He said to take fresh Turkey, chicken or beef but STAY AWAY from FISH! And microwave them & plenty of water should be good for him. So now I just need to find out the amounts & hope the picky bugger will eat the better healthier food. (He is super picky)

So now I'm off to la la land & you may want to resend your number at my myspace or email me it at angela@mtmomma.com

I told Sierra that Kadin will begin to hate us (Joking) each time we take him for a trip it is to the vet, At a few mo old he got shots 3 trips to get them all. Then at 1 yr old he got neutered (and his check-ups & shots each yr) now he has gotten poked & Violated.

I wonder if he holds a grudge? I guess I'll know in the a.m.

Well To be 100% Truthful, (And I do get a lot of flack for this) I don't vote. It has been some what of a spiritual/Moral thing that I just can't seem to bring myself to vote. I have thought long & hard about it & I have came very close to registering to vote but I can't seem to bring myself to do it. It's hard to explain.  But I really couldn't say who I would vote for.
It's funny I do watch what is going on with the politics but That even makes me not want to vote even more. LOL I'll plead the fifth on why that is. But I will state it has nothing to do with religion, race, or sex.

I read up on Beethoven and she sounds a lot like him. The funny thing is she will play a song & a few days later go play the exact same thing again, at times adding to it. But she never really changes it, just adds to it or starts a new one.

    Hello John,

Thank you for posting on my blog & it's not an intrusion at all!

My Daughter that is on the spectrum is 4, yet to go to the school. I had her tested at the pre-school hoping to get her into therapies with no luck at all. She has high functioning autism. I'll be trying again to get her into head start & I know have all the recommendation for what she needs from her  Dev. Ped.

I have a 10 yr old daughter that has life threatening allergies and I have had a few battles with the school over the care of her Epi-pen & their lack of taking it on trips, This yr has been her best yet (she's in the 4th grade).

In the way of local support groups there isn't much around in King George Co. I do look to start a small personal group soon for families, mainly parents helping parents.

This is my personal e-mail if you should need it or if you wanted to ask anything you may not want on the Internet.

    Take care,

My wife and I are considering moving to the Fredericksburg / King George area. Our son is "on the spectrum" (PDD-NOS). Any information, opinions, or other info you might be able to share regarding the local schools' support (or lack thereof) for special needs kids would be most appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great day,

ooooh! i LOVe doing home renovations, although being a virgo, i hate the messes they cause.

where we used to rent, our landloard would pretty let us do anything to the apartment, because we were increasing the value of the home. we put in new flooring, painted, changed lighting fixtures, and my favorite, we tiled in the kitchen. i love tiling.

we apparently did such a good job at increasing the value of the home, our landlords sold the house, and we had to move.

where we are now? we can't even paint a wall a color that isn't neutral. somehow i got away with a green bathroom. if we paint a room a color, we have to put down a 250 dollar deposit per room so they rental agency can pay someone to come in and paint it back to a neutral.

i painted all the rooms here very very light colors, but it's just not the same somehow.

now, where in WV are you? and when is that pool going to be ready?

    hey angela,

after a few yearss of therapy for myself, including a couple of sessions with my husband, my therapist has determined that he has asperger's. the more i read, learn, and watch his behavior, the more i see it in him. i can't get him to go to the dr's because i've explained to him that asperger's is high functioning autism, and he seems satisfied with that. everything you've listed here is true of him.

we are separated, but share the same home. this happened before my therpist and i talked about it.

knowing somehow makes it's more difficult, and yet easier to understand him.

thanks for this blog. it helps.

Great blog, Angela! I remember how disappointed I was that I couldn't take pictures in the Salvador Dali Museum. They said the flashes would eventually make the paintings fade. But it also helped them earn 40 bucks from me, since at the end of the trip I insisted on buying their book filled with reproductions of the museum's paintings.
